Daily Reflection - Prayer Changes Us, Not God!

Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C.
Reflection by Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese).
Prayer Changes Us, Not God!
Gen.18:20-32; Col.2:12-14; Luke 11:1-13.

I've come across persons who say in frustration that they prayed and prayed but God refused to hear their prayers. Seriously? This is simply impossible. Only ignorance makes us speak this way.
Look at the first reading closely. Is it the case that God didn't already know that he couldn't find even ten righteous persons in Sodom and Gomorrah? Certainly not! At the end of the encounter, Abraham was the more enlightened one. Not God. God is already perfect and all knowing.
Friends, God made us to know him... Prayer brings us closer to him. When we pray, we become more like him. We learn to love as he loves, to forgive as he forgives, to be merciful as he is merciful; we became more and more perfect. At this level, we come to understand why some prayers seemingly stay unanswered and why others are. Let's learn something from the Lord's prayer today. Jesus made so much sacrifice for us to become sons and daughters of the Father. He already wills the best for us. What's left is for us to realise it.

Good Morning Friends. Happy Sunday!
