Daily Reflection - Simplicity Breeds Faith!

Friday of the Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time.
Year II (St Bonaventure, Bishop/Doctor).
Reflection by Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)
Simplicity Breeds Faith!
Is.38:1-6,21-22,7-8; Matt.12:1-8

What was the major problem the Pharisees and scribes had? Knowledge (of the law)! St Bonaventure, whose memorial we celebrate today tells us that is it much easier for the mind of the simple and uneducated to have a clearer knowledge of God than the wise.
This is so true! How else can we explain why the Pharisees were so concerned about law just because Jesus' disciples plucked and ate ears of corn on the Sabbath?

Friends, what God wants is mercy, not sacrifice. So instead of looking around at others, and trying to do God's work of judgement for Him, why not rather spend time putting our own affairs in order as Hezekiah was asked to do in the first reading of today?
Perhaps God will look upon us and say "I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will cure you..." Let us leave all we think we know and follow God with simple hearts. A cup that's already full can't be filled with anything anymore!

Good morning friends. God bless your day and weekend ahead.
