Snap Spectacles

On the 24th of September, 2016, a post was updated on the SnapChat website, confirming that SnapChat has official changed its name to Snap Inc. or Snap (for short). The decision to change the name stems from the fact that when SnapChat was officially launched, it was the only product of the company and since the decision has been made to branch out and create other products, it was only right to initiate a name change.

An extract from the Snap Inc. Website reads;

"Today we are changing the name of our company to Snap Inc. When we were just getting started it made sense to name our company Snapchat Inc., because Snapchat was our only product! Now that we are developing other products, like Spectacles, we need a name that goes beyond just one product – but doesn’t lose the familiarity and fun of our team and brand" - Evan Spiegel

To commemorate the announcement, Snap Inc. has introduced Spectacles. Spectacles are sunglasses, incorporated with wireless video camera which makes video recording simpler and is available in three colours. Spectacles can record clips for up to 10 seconds and will cost $130 when it is released in the Fall of 2016.
